Jodie's Cyprus Dogs Rehoming (JCDR) is listed on the Charity Commission register for England and Wales as "Jodies Cyprus Dog Rehoming" (no. 1156497, registered 2 April 2014). Its website says it is "A registered charity since 2014". According to its About Us page, the rescue began with stray dogs in Cyprus that were then placed with adopters in the UK.
The fee and what it covers
According to its How to Adopt page, the total rehoming fee is £720, which the rescue says "includes traces and customs charges of £55". The page says the fee "covers part of the cost to our charity" and that bringing one dog to the UK "can cost between £700 - £800".
The page says the fee is paid in three parts:
- a £235 reservation fee;
- a £385 adoption fee, due "at least 10 days before your dog arrives"; and
- a £100 final payment for traces and customs clearance.
The page lists the charity's costs as including flight, vaccinations, microchip, passport, neutering "where applicable" and food for two months. It does not state in terms whether the fee includes transport, so this profile leaves that field as "Not stated".
Deposits and refunds
The rescue's How to Adopt page says the reservation fee is non-refundable, except if you fail a home check, which it describes as "highly unusual" and "the only instance that we will refund the deposit". It also says: "Your deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE after you have committed to the adoption." Read the page, and ask the rescue, before paying anything.
Transport and collection
According to the rescue, "Our dogs fly from Cyprus to Paris and are always accompanied by one or more volunteer", and then travel through the Euro tunnel to England. The page says JCDR will arrange a drop-off or pick-up point and that "We generally have 5 - 10 dogs with us". It adds that delivery may be offered where you cannot travel, "depending on location", and that "a fuel cost will be incurred". The page also says dogs must be at least 16 weeks old to fly.
Home check and adoption rules
The rescue says: "Yes, once you have reserved your dog, a volunteer will be in touch to arrange your home check." The page does not say whether this is virtual or in person. It also states that you must sign adoption papers or a contract and that a copy can be provided before you reserve.
Other rules listed on the page include:
- if you cannot keep the dog, it "MUST be returned into the care of the charity and not sold on";
- the rescue says "we do not want any rescue dogs to be used to breed from"; and
- spaying or neutering is usually done before arrival, and where a dog is too young the adopter arranges it at an appropriate age and sends the vet invoices to JCDR.
The page says JCDR is not responsible for vet fees after adoption "unless authorised by Jodie beforehand".
Who they rehome to
The pages we read do not mention cats, children or garden requirements, so these are shown as "Not stated". To apply, the How to Adopt page says to contact the rescue for an adoption application form via its contact page.
Health and travel paperwork
The rescue says dogs receive a pet passport, microchip and rabies vaccination, and that other vaccinations are the adopter's choice because they "are not required for entry into the UK". It says there is no quarantine for dogs with European passports that meet the requirements it lists. Check current UK import rules yourself with GOV.UK.
After you adopt
According to the How to Adopt page, aftercare checks take place about 7 days and 1 month after adoption. The Aftercare page offers a free printable "new adoptions pack" PDF and says: "If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us."

Collecting your dog: what the rules say
Rescue dogs come into Great Britain under commercial import rules. The government's Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) says a commercially imported dog must be delivered to the address on its import paperwork, not collected from a public place such as a car park or service station, and must then stay at that address for at least 48 hours. Whichever rescue you adopt from, ask where and how your dog will be handed over before the day.
