Paws2Rescue is a registered charity in England and Wales (no. 1156882, registered in 2014) that rehomes dogs from Romania to the UK. It describes itself as "first and foremost" a charity aimed at reducing the suffering of dogs in Romania.

The fee and what it covers

From 1 January 2026, the adoption fee for a dog or puppy from overseas is £525, or £425 for dogs over 8. Dogs already in the UK cost £250, unless they came from overseas and are in foster, in which case the overseas fees apply.

The fee covers multiple blood tests (including babesia, leishmania, giardia, brucellosis and a heartworm panel), vaccinations, microchip, passport and health book, vet checks, administration, and transport from Romania to the UK. The rescue notes that its actual costs exceed the fee.

The dog's own neutering is not included. For every dog adopted, the rescue funds the neutering of another dog in Romania.

Who they rehome to

  • Garden: a fully secure garden is required, with no gaps a dog could escape through and fencing of at least 6ft (5.5ft for smaller dogs). Ground-floor flats with secure outdoor access are considered, with a more limited choice of dogs.
  • Children: children in the household should ideally be over 8, or over 12 for dogs from public shelters. Visiting children need to be mentioned in the application.
  • Cats: cat-tested dogs are available, though the rescue is clear that outcomes can't be guaranteed.

Timescales

The rescue says the vaccinations and passport usually take around a month to complete.
